Dell U4320Q Review: Forty-Something Millimeters Of Awesome

The Dell UltraSharp U4320Q is a 43-inch 4K monitor with a USB-C port that doubles up as a docking station and can charge devices at up to 90W. You also get a USB-A hub and a KVM switch, but the specs disappoint: 60Hz refresh rate, mediocre color reproduction, and no HDR support. The stand provides full ergonomic support, though you’ll need a large desk for the huge screen.

The Dell U4320Q isn’t the first 43-inch ultra-wide monitor we’ve seen but it’s the best of them so far. It features an IPS panel with wide viewing angles that delivers accurate colors and better contrast than most VA panels in this class of monitors. It has a USB-C port that supports DisplayPort Alt mode, Power Delivery 3.0, and data transfer at up to 10Gbps, so you can connect your laptop and get power and video over a single cable. The port also functions as a docking station with two USB 3.2 Gen 1 ports (one with fast charging) plus another two USB 2.0 ports available on the side of the display. A KVM switch lets you control two PCs from one monitor, keyboard, and mouse setup.

The Dell U4320Q 4K monitor represents everything that’s good about Dell monitors. It has a great build quality, lots of useful features, and the picture quality is top-notch.

The design of the monitor is a bit on the conservative side with thin bezels on three sides and a wider bottom bezel where the Dell logo is located. The OSD (On-Screen Display) joystick is at the bottom-right side of the monitor and it’s easy to reach when you’re sitting in front of the screen. The stand is sturdy and can be used to tilt, swivel and adjust height. You can also rotate it into portrait mode, which is handy if you want to read long articles or documents.

In terms of connectivity, there are plenty of ports available such as DisplayPort 1.2, mini DisplayPort 1.2, USB-C with 90W power delivery, two HDMI 2.0 ports and two USB 3.0 ports for peripherals. For audio output, there’s a 3.5mm headphone jack available as well as an audio line out for external speakers but no built-in speakers which isn’t surprising at this price range.

The Dell UltraSharp U4320Q is a good 4K IPS monitor for office use. It has decent picture quality with wide viewing angles, great for sharing your screen with coworkers. It also has excellent ergonomics and is VESA mount compatible, so you can easily place it on the wall or on a monitor arm.

Unfortunately, while it has HDR support, it isn’t very bright in HDR and doesn’t look much different than in SDR. It also has bad black uniformity and doesn’t have a local dimming feature to improve its contrast ratio. As an office monitor, it’s a decent choice but not great for gaming as its response time may result in some motion blur.
